The L – theanine Effect on Brain Wave Activity
Theanine, it has been shown, enhances alpha brain wave activity, which occurs when individuals are relaxed, but fully alert to their surroundings. (see above diagram) It’s like being in a neutral gear, able to respond to any demand by changing up and down a gear quickly.
This diagram demonstrates the increase in positive alpha wave activity at 50mg of Theanine. The red area represents the amount of positive alpha wave activity. The line underneath represents the control sample of someone who has only consumed water.
